An athlete as a youngster, Dr. Thomas Denis was drawn to the field of physical therapy after having personal experience of going through physical therapy. During his senior year of high school football, he sustained a torn rotator cuff ending the rest of his football season. After a few months of physical therapy, he was able to return to his main sport, wrestling for HS and even into college. Through this experience, he became fascinated with how the body can work through corrective exercises in order to heal itself. While in college, he was fortunate enough to work with collegiate and professional athletes, which later lead to him working with US & French Olympic team athletes as well. He is blessed to say he has helped some of the best athletes in the world achieve success in their sport. His goal for opening Purposed Physical Therapy in Greenville, SC was to provide a non-corporate location for local individuals, where they could receive the same level of quality-of-care and expertise that is given to the best athletes in the world. From an early age, I knew I wanted to have a career that was based in movement science. The complexity of the body and how it can adapt, heal, and overcome stress/injuries has always been fascinating to me, and it never fails to demonstrate how perfect God’s design is. Additionally, my upbringing in sports - softball and karate, in particular - laid the foundation for my desire to become a physical therapist. My experience in working with both high-level athletes and everyday people continues to foster my passion in helping others recover and get back to living a healthy and active lifestyle.
